7 Ways to Use Essential Oils: Not Only For Beginner

Essential oils are natural chemical compounds that are aromatic in nature that is very powerful in nature compared to other drugs. Sometimes you may feel intimidated when you get to know that you do not know how to use essential oils. If you look at various documentaries online you get to learn that usage of essential oils is fun and extremely easy. There are many areas where you can use them in your life, some of the ways on how you can use essential oils are as highlighted below:

Direct application to the skin

Essential oils can be applied to the skin is through aromatherapy massage as it relaxes your muscles soothes physical tension and improves blood circulation. Essential oils can be absorbed immediately into the skin since they are fat soluble. You can mix them with diluted sweet almond oil when you want to apply them to your skin; do not apply them directly if your skin is sensitive as they may have some skin effects. When you have a respiratory system problem you can use essential oils such as eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary oil on your chest since they have a clearing effect. Just use a blender and blend 15-25 drops of essential oil mix it with a carrier oil such as almond oil use this mixture and rub on your upper back and on your chest.


Another best way to use the essential oil is to mix them in water in a basin then add an emulsifier such as sesame oil or salts. For full satisfaction you should avoid mixing with chemically produced soaps; 4-6 drops of the oil mixed with 1 cup of salt or emulsifier are recommended. If you fail to use them the drops of essential oils will float on water, as a result, they get direct contact with the skin. Some of the essential oils that are considered safe to bath with are clary sage oil, lavender oil, rose oil, pine oil, eucalyptus oil, juniper oil and sandalwood oil. You should avoid oils such as oregano oil, cinnamon, and thyme oil as they may have specific irritation to your skin. You should avoid an overuse of essential oils when you are bathing with them as they may cause your skin to irritating.

Steam inhalation

Essential oils also work well when you inhale them. You can do this by boiling 1-2 cups of water and adding 2-3 drops of the essential oil to the water. Place the mixture close to your nose and then inhale the steam slowly. In case you experience any form of irritation or discomfort after the inhalation process you stop immediately to avoid any further complication.


Essential oils can be used to assist in maintaining healthy teeth gums and freshening your breath since they have antibacterial and antiseptic features. For you to use them just add 3-5 drops of the essential oil to a cup of water, swill around your mouth and pour it out but do not swallow even a drop.

Scented pillow

Another wonderful way to use the essential oil is by adding 3-5 drops on the pillowcase before you sleep at night. In turn, while you are sleeping you will inhale the scent of the oil.


Just add some drops to one of your room diffusers. Aromatherapy diffusers are best for purifying and cleaning the air in your room. These diffusers are meant to disperse the essential oil into various corners of the room. For effective diffusion just use 3-5 drops of the essential oil placed in a pad. Then switch on the diffuser while you are inside.
